Imran Ansari's fate hangs in balance
Copying Amitabh Mattoo proves costly
3/15/2017 11:26:00 PM
Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 15: As Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is yet to take a decision on the resignation tendered by Sports Minister Imran Raza Ansari, the latter's fate remains uncertain. The corridors of power are equating Ansari's decision with a similar move by CM's Advisor Prof Amitabh Mattoo some time back. Sources said it has become a joke among the political circles that Ansari "couldn't emerge as a star by playing Amitabh." "Many think that it was reference to Amitabh Bachchan, but actually it means Amitabh Mattoo," a senior PDP leader told Early Times, pleading anonymity. Following some differences with a Cabinet minister and a senior official last winter, Prof Mattoo had resigned and left for Australia. But the state government relentlessly persuaded Prof Mattoo to return home while at least three Cabinet ministers were in constant touch with him. In fact after tendering resignation, when Prof Mattoo fell ill in New Delhi, the CM personally went to see him at a hospital. After lot of persuasion, Prof Mattoo was made to join back as the Advisor to CM, a p...
