Syed Junaid Hashmi Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 19: Apart from silence of various anti-corruption institutions in taking action against police officials involved in corrupt practices, even the office of ex-Director General Police (DGP) K.Rajindra Kumar preferred silence. The official documents available with Early Times clearly indicate non-seriousness of the office of DGP in taking the complaints of corruption seriously and initiating time-bound action. Complaints were forwarded to the office of DGP where they have remained pending for a long time now while the accused are enjoying postings of their choice. Not even one example has been set to ensure those who police officials who indulge in corrupt practices are taken to task. A head constable Mohammed Sadiq allegedly took demanded and accepted Rs. 20,000 as bribe. He is presently posted as Munshi at Police Station (PS) Bagh-e-Bahu. Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 19: An ASP rank officer, posted in a district of Jammu region, is alleged to have joined hands with cattle smugglers, carrying milch animals to the valley under the cover of darkness. Police sources alleged that he had been receiving a huge amount of money from the smugglers for giving safe passage to their vehicles carrying milch animals. It was on March 20th 2009 when Jammu & Kashmir Assembly passed a present version of Right to Information Act (RTI) thus repealing erstwhile J&K RTI Act 2004 which was enacted during PDP - Congress Government in 2004.
