A man identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Wani, 20, son of Mohi-u-din wani, a resident of Batamurran Wanpora Keller was kidnapped from his residence around 7: 30 this evening. Jammu-based PRO of the force told that a blast took place at a border outpost in Samba, resulting into the death of a BSF officer and injuries to few others. Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 19: As many as 637 samples have been found substandard in Jammu and Kashmir by food safety department from April to October this year, the J&K high court was informed on Monday. In a compliance report submitted by commissioner food safety, highest number of samples of 574 were lifted from Jammu and of them 170 were found substandard. Similarly, of the 214 samples lifted in this summer capital of Srinagar, 62 were found sub standard, the CFS said. During the time, he said, 654 prosecutions were launched and seven of them were of criminal nature. The CFS said Rs 4725700 were imposed for unhygienic conditions while food seized were worth Rs 1778928.

Former Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday passes away

Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 19: Former chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Iqbal Khanday died in Srinagar today after battling cancer. He was 63. Mr Khanday, a 1978-batch IAS officer, took premature retirement from service just few months before his superannuation in 2015. He is survived by wife, judge Kaneez Fatima, and daughter Sehar Iqbal. Mr Khanday died at SKIMS Hospital at Soura, where he was undergoing treatment for cancer, which had relapsed after his retirement from service.
