Salaries of officers withheld

Ramban, Feb 16: The District Development Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Aijaz today ordered for the with-holding of salaries of several officers of all the six Zones of the Education Department for their dismal achievement in the construction of structures under Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan (SSA) in Ramban district. According to a handout, while reviewing the financial and physical progress of all the ongoing 58 works under SSA in the district today he noticed dismal performance.
According to the order No.DDCR/Plg./2016-17/14387-14409, no amount out of Rs.328.92 lakh was reportedly spent on these works during the previous financial year.
The officers whose salaries were reportedly withheld included Zonal Education Officers of Ramban, Banihal, Ukhral, Gool and Khari, Assistant Engineer, SSA, Ramban besides Junior Engineers of SSA of Ramban, Gool, Ukhral, Batote, Khari and Banihal Zones.
Besides these officers, the Chief Education Officer, Mohammed Sharief Chauhan was also asked to give reasons for this negligence within five days.
All the ZEOs were directed to hold Village Education Committee meetings and submit the Utilization Certificate of work done. DDC also instructed the executing agencies to complete all ongoing works in prescribed time and to achieve the 100 percent targets before the end of financial year.
