Despite repeated pleas to SHOs of Police Stations of Gursai and Mendhar by the then SDM Thakur Sher Singh to lodge FIR against the cable laying company namely Starlite Technology which is digging the roads for layng of cables there by causing damages to several public properties situated along the Mendhar-Surankote 21 km long road, but the reluctance shown by the heads of both the police stations for not initiating a legal action was the cause of cocern and a boost for the cable laying company, sources said.
The locals have been facing a multiple problems as the road is being dug in an unproper way giving a tough time to the traffic plying on it as the company has dug the road at several places without availing the proper permission. In another letter on Feb 13, 2017 shot by XEn PMGSY Sub Division Mendhar to SHOs of Police stations Gursai and Mendhar praying for registration of FIR against the said cable laying company but the plea has not been materialized by now, XEn PMGSY said. Meanwhile on the direction of XEn PMGSY Sub Division Mendhar Ab Gani Chhagal, AEE Farooq Khan along with other staff reached the spot and asked the labours to stop the work henceforth. Farooq seized their digging equipments but had to face the fury of a local encroacher who has erected pillars on the road to support construction work to his house. A written complant was given to police for harassing government officials on work but the police is reluctant to take any action against the accused. Executive Engineer PMGSY Sub Division Mendhar Abdul Gani Chhagal while talking to Early Times said that the role of the police was not cooperative and they failed to take any action despite repeated pleas. The cable laying company has caused damages to public property worth lakhs but the lackadaisical approach of the police was the matter of concern he added.
