Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, Feb 16: District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) located in districts across the state is entrusted with the responsibility of imparting training to the teachers, but when the officials posted at DIET themselves don't know about the language, how can one expect them to teach the teachers?
A small banner erected on the building of DIET Srinagar proves that an officer posted there for up-gradation of DIET Srinagar to model DIET has little knowledge of the English language. Despite glaring mistakes in the banner the same has not been removed from the building.
The banner reads: OSD in DIET To Model DIET For Upgradation of DIET to Model DIET. Going through the banner one fails to understand its meaning. There is no synchronization of words and one fails to understand the meaning of the banner. Given this scenario how can one expect the OSD to upgrade the Srinagar DIET to model DIET? y the message through the banner.
A senior government teacher on the condition of anonymity told Early Times that the banner aptly proves that the OSD is inefficient and he does not know what to write and what not in the banner. The teacher said that the banner sends a wrong message that all the persons associated with the education sector are incompetent.
"The concerned OSD is a favourite of Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar and Minister showers praises on him every now and then. The words and the sentences used in the banner point towards the incompetence of the concerned officer and it should act as an eye-opener for the Education minister," said the teacher.
Interestingly, the concerned have failed to take note of the banner in question, indicating that all the people whether they are teachers or the officers of the department are just concerned with receiving salary on time and have no initiative or drive to spot and rectify glaring mistakes in the banner.
