CWA dismays over unprecedented price of Milk, Milk-products
2/17/2017 10:16:47 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 17: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) dismayed over unprecedented price of milk and milk products by the Food Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs (FCSCA) department, without involving all the stake holders including producers, suppliers, bulk purchasers, retailers and especially the Consumer Organizations/consumers.
According to press release, CWA insisted that govt should take feedback from the consumer organizations in this exercise. CWA also demanded that milk rates should be commensurate with the quality of milk and milk products for which proper check/inspections have to be conducted by flying squads of the concerned organizations such as FCSCA, Legal Metrology, Food Safety Controller and District Administration to ascertain the laid down standard/quality of the product. Unfortunately this is not being done and the Consumer is cheated and black-mailed and the rates are periodically raised under pressure of the milk-suppliers lobby and politicians.
On the occasion, other issues highlighted by CWA deputation comprising Er Vikram Gour President, BM Kohli, VP, Ashok Kaul Gen Secy and Chander Parkash, Secy were Bifurcation of ration cards, Providing of fresh ration cards to all the consumers, Immediate provision of ration cards to those consumers who are ready to surrender ration, Non-availability/erratic/reduced supply of ration at ration depots for the last three months particularly sugar and others.
