Militant involved in murder arrested in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested a militant involved in a murder case in north Kashmir district of Baramulla .
A police spokesman said here this evening that on January 9 last year body of 25-year-old youth Zakir Hussain Badoo son of Ghulam Ahmad Badoo resident of Mehmoodpora, Pattan was found lying on roadside in the outskirts of the village.
The body bore gunshot wounds on chest and prima facie appeared to be the case of murder. A case FIR number 207/2016 under sections of 307 RPC and 7/27 Arms Act were registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation was taken up.
He said during the course of investigation it surfaced that the deceased was killed by a pistol fire by one of his acquaintances having militant affiliations. Both oral and circumstantial evidences pointed towards the involvement of one Irshad Ahmad Bhat son of Late Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Wailoo, Pattan.
The accused and the victim have been knowing each other for long but had fallen out on some sensitive issue which led to heated argument on the date and time of incident and thereafter Irshad fired upon him from point blank with his pistol which hit the chest of victim who died on spot.
The accused offender Irshad has been an active militant of Hizbul-Mujahideen (HM) militant outfit who had joined militant ranks after killing of his militant father Fayaz Ahmad Bhat in inter gang rivalry in year 2015.
One AK series rifle, 2 magazines, one Chinese pistol with magazine, 4 Hand grenades and other ammunition was recovered from the possession of the accused who has been arrested in the instant case in a joint operation by Police, Army and CRPF.
The militant was also found involved in firing incident in village Gundari Pora Pattan on October 11 2016 where in the accused fired upon two persons namely Abdul Rehman Wani son of Mahda Wani and Aftab Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of same village accusing them of defying hartal call by playing cards. Both the person had received gunshot wounds but survived after immediate hospitalization.
