Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Feb 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Commission today directed the Pulwama deputy commissioner to take action against the officials of Pampore Municipal Committee and revenue department officials indicted in alleged sale of grazing land.
The orers were issued after going through the report submitted by Executive Officer of Municipal Committee, Pampore in the matter, a spokesman of the commission said.
The Vigilance Commission also directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit the action taken report by March 8.
The inhabitants of Pampore town had filed a complaint alleging that officials of the Pampore civic body and then Tehsildar of Pampore and Patwari of Drangbal connived with each other and sold grazing land and allowed illegal construction on it.
They also alleged that the municipal committee issued permission for construction to one Ghulam Mohammad Bhat on the said land.
In the complaint, they had also stated that no action was taken by the Tehsildar to stop this illegal action despite being alerted by concerned Girdawar about the matter, the spokesperson said.
"On perusal of report submitted by Executive officer, MC Pampore, the Commission has come to the conclusion that encroachment and illegal construction on Kahcharai land has taken place due to wilful negligence of the officials of revenue department and MC, Pampore," the commission observed.
The commission directed Pulwama Deputy Commissioner to initiate action against the officials including then Tehsildar Mushtaq Ahmad Bajad, then Executive Officer MC Pampore Mohd Ismail Mir, Khilafwarzi Inspector Ali Mohammad Naikoo, Khilafwarzi Assistant Yaqoob Ahmad Shah, Sanitary Supervisors Mohmad Subhan Sheikh, Farooq Ahmad Ganai, Khilafwarzi Supervisor Mohd Sidiq Wani and Jamadar Jalal-ud-Din Sheikh, the spokesperson said.
