Jammu, Feb 17: Two PDP leaders, Basharat Bukhari and Imran Ansari, on Friday resigned from the Mehbooba Mufti cabinet. Sources close to Ansari, who was Youth Services and Sports Minister, said that at the time of taking oath as a cabinet minister in April last year, he was assured by the party leadership that a "good" portfolio will be given to him as and when a cabinet reshuffle will take place.
After Friday's reshuffle, Ansari "felt betrayed and he resigned from the cabinet," sources said. Ansari's resignation came immediately after Basharat Bukhari tendered his resignation to PDP president and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. Bukhari was apparently shocked after he was stripped of his portfolio of Revenue, Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Disaster Management, and was allotted Horticulture ministry.
