Early Times Report

Hiranagar, Mar 20: With investigations suggesting overloading as the main cause of the accidents, the authorities in Kathua are yet to wake up to the issue.
Overloading in public transport has become a daily affair in Kathua District, particularly in the rural areas. Locals blamed the authorities for failing to check it.
"The increase in rate of accidents should open the eyes of the authorities. Are they waiting for a major mishap to happen to take action? The roads are already bad and the overloading in mini buses has created a threat of more accidents. These buses pass by the traffic cops but are not being checked, Moreover the regional transport department is acting as dummy" said Rohan, a student frequently travelling in public transport.
Many a times investigation has revealed that overloading was the major cause behind several accidents that took place in the district within last few years. Several lost life due to negligent driving and lackadaisical attitude of authorities.
The Minister of Transport in the state has asked the traffic authorities in the state to ensure better coordination with the agencies concerned to avert such mishaps in the future.
But, it seems a free hand has been given to transporters to go on with overloading in the District.
A harrowing accident of overloaded matador occurred on the Root Kootah to Odha in which one Child had lost his life and more than 35 passenger were injured .But Department concerned take no lessons from such types of incidents. And playing with the lives of common people .More overloading occurs during the School timing Were the most of students plunged behind the buses and matadors .If Department doesn't wake up from its deep sleep the future of the country ( students) is in risk and may lose their life at any time .
