Jammu, Apr 21: The government has appointed two members to the state consumer disputes redressal commission (SCDRC), making it functional.
The members include D K Kapoor, a former district and sessions judge, and advocate Sabina Jan. SRO 190 was issued in this behalf yesterday by the department of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs in exercise of powers conferred under sub-section(1) of section 14 of J&K Consumer Protection Act, 1987 (Act No XVI of 1987) read with rule 12 (ii) of J&K Consumer Protection Rules, 1987.
The members have been appointed for a period of five years. Kapoor has held the office of president of district forum, Jammu, for two years and worked as a member of SCDRC for five years. Sabina has served divisional forum for five years and for three years as a member of district forum.
