Vijaypur, May 18: The people of Raya, Suchani, Ranjari, Patti, Gupwal, Salmeri, Sangwal, Pekhari and Rajinderpura today staged a protest against the state Government over slow pace of construction work in the area.
Ex- Sarpanch-Khajoor Singh, Rajesh Padgotra and Rimpu maintained that the Government had sanctioned funds for the construction of double lane roads from Rahya Morh to Central University situated at village Suchani and 17 mile Salmeri to Rajinderpura (Bagoona).
They accused that the construction work on the roads have been partially completed by the contractors about 5-6 months ago, but till date macdamisation of the road is pending.
"Due to this the road is not safe for commuting," they said and added that the government should instruct concerned contractor to speed up the process.
Earlier, the aggrieved people assembled at Rahya Morh and blocked the national Highway for half and hours.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur and the executive engineer PWD Division Samba alongwith SDPO, Vijaypur and SHO, Vijaypur reached on spot and took control over the situation.
Executive Engineer PWD assured the people that both the roads will be completed within month.
