Jagti Hospital craves for infrastructure
5/19/2017 12:15:43 AM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 18: With Government is totally callous towards it, the Jagti Hospital which was inaugurated over one year back lacks all infrastructural facilities. The 40 bedded Hospital lacks basic facilities and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education as well as Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation has failed to own the hospital properly with the result there is a big confusion that who owns the hospital. According to sources the Hospital has not been properly handed over by Relief Organisation to Health Department and hence no one owns the responsibility.
The doctors have not been posted but have been attached on the basis of deployment for years together with the result they have not taken proper responsibility of hospital. The 40 beds are lying totally vacant as no patient is admitted in the hospital due to lack of facilities which has rush of both Jagti township and surrounding areas. The hospital could have been converted into an emergency Hospital as well as it is adjacent to Jammu Srinagar National Highway but the Government is not interested in running the Hospital properly. Some migrant doctors and para Medical staff has been deployed there just to utilise their services and not to run the Hospital on the pattern of other hospitals in the State.
The migrants putting up in the camp ask when Hospital was not to be provided the facilities for the treatment of patients then what was the fun of spending such a huge money on its construction. The Hospital has machinery but no expert staff to run that. Except Ultrasound and blood test no other tests are performed in hospital. There is no X-ray machine and no supply of medicines. The patients visiting Hospital for treatment are asked to get medicines from market. Even simple tablet can't be available in this much talked about Hospital. The Health Department says it does not get supply for the Hospital from Government nor any separate funds have been earmarked for the same. The supply whatsoever is given to Hospital is from the overall funds it receives for running the other hospitals in the region. The Relief Department also shrugs it's responsibility with the result the Hospital has become defunct. However a ray of hope has emerged after the newly elected MLC Ajay Bharti took personal interest in this regard and involved some philanthropists to donate medicines and other material required for treatment of patients to Hospital. If this system works the Hospital can become functional to some extent and problems of people will be eased feel the Jagti inmates.
