RAMBAN, May 18: Two doctors, including a dental surgeon and an ophthalmologist, have been placed under suspension here for dereliction of duties.
They were found absent from duties during a surprise check of the district hospital and trauma centre, by district development commissioner Mohammad Aijaz.
At the trauma centre and the district hospital, he interacted with patients and enquired about the facilities being provided to them. He directed the medical superintendent to provide better facilities to patients, besides minimising the referral system.
Official sources said he later also visited the government higher secondary school, Ramban, and checked the attendance of teachers. He also assessed staff position in the school, accommodation, drinking water and toilet facilities. He stressed upon the teachers to ensure that the children are provided quality education.
He also impressed upon the students to adopt cleanliness and sanitation for healthy lifestyles and advised them to join Swachh Baharat Abhiyaan and keep their school and surroundings neat and clean.
