PDP leaders accuse CM, Parra of bungling in 'Khelo India'
5/20/2017 12:05:42 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: Believe it or not but a Vice-President of PDP has accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti headed Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council of well planned, well thought, systematic and ruthless bungling of crores of rupees in the name of Khelo-India.
The leader who is vice-President of PDP and President of Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA), had on April 26, 2017 addressed a Press Conference alongwith General Secretary JKOA Ashutosh Sharma and President, J&K Yoga Association. He had alleged that there had been blatant abuse of Khelo-India funds and Sports Council has duped State and Centre funds in the name of games and sports.
He alongwith another PDP leader Deepak Handa and General Secretary JKOA Ashutosh Sharma had termed Khelo-India as 'Looto India' and said that the council authorities have distributed funds at will among unrecognized Associations and among those Clubs run by blue eyed.
They had said that the council has sanctioned huge funds to the Private Schools, Clubs and Sports Academies at Jammu and Srinagar, adding that even those Associations which charged big amount of money as entry fees from the players, have lavishly been funded by the council authorities.
The trio had further alleged that Wushu and Football were the only recognized Associations who have received Rs 25, 00000 each, however rest of the Associations recognized by Sports Council and their respective Indian Federations have been ignored by the Council. The President of JKOA had requested the sports ministry of India to initiate a thorough enquiry into the plundering of huge Khelo-India funds and the funds flowing in crores for the development of sports infrastructure.
Not only did they accuse the Mehbooba Mufti headed sports council of plundering the funds meant for Khelo India but the General Secretary Ashutosh Sharma with the consent of the President met Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Vijay Goyal recently apprising him about alleged bunglings in Khelo India. It needs to be mentioned here that the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council is headed by Mehbooba Mufti as President and youth wing president of PDP Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra. He is also regarded as the closest aide of the Chief Minister.
The PDP vice-president's allegations against his own party men does raise questions on the lack of discipline in PDP with vice-president tarnishing image of the party head and party's ace man.
