Police to question notorious gangster Sanju
Chopra family murder case
5/20/2017 12:11:57 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 19: A local court on Friday gave the custody of the notorious gangster Sanjay Sharma alias Sanju of Akhnoor to Bahu Fort police for two days. Sanju's name had surfaced in the murder case of Rajinder Bhushan Chopra alias Raju Chopra.
Sources told Early Times that Sanju was shifted to Bahu Fort police station for questioning in Raju Chopra murder case as his name had come to fore during investigation.
Pertinently, cement tycoon Rajinder Bhushan Chopra, his wife Madhu Chopra, daughter Saloni Chopra and their two domestic helps were murdered in cold blood at their residence in Trikuta Nagar locality of Jammu on the intervening night of September 17th and 18th, 2016.
Sources said that he (Sanju) is one of the prime suspects in the case for roping in the murderers from outside the state. After his name had surfaced he went underground to evade arrest as he had already jumped parole.
Pertinently, Sanjay Sharma alias Sanju of Akhnoor, who is alleged to have murdered top gangsters - Jagdev Singh alias Jebba of Dumi Malpur, a few kilometres short of Akhnoor bridge, and Sikandar Arora alias Billoo of Pacci Dhaki surrendered before Jammu police on April 19, 2017 and was shifted to Amphalla Jail. He had allegedly killed Jeba in broad daylight in the heart of Akhnoor town in 1995.
He was arrested in this case and lodged in Amphalla jail where he developed animosity with another gangster Billoo who too was lodged in the same jail.
In 1997, he allegedly killed Billoo inside the jail on the eve of Bhaiya Dooj. He was himself wounded in the incident.
A case in this connection was registered against him at Pacca Danga police station. He was later released on parole. However, before he could again be lodged in jail, he jumped the parole and went underground.
His name was also linked by police to the sensational Chopra family murders. After going underground, he had fled the state.
With his surrender, police are hopeful of taking the lid off several 'unsolved' criminal acts in the district, sources said.
