Early Times Report

Poonch, Aug 18: On August 15, when the entire country was celebrating India's 70th Independence Day, a group of students chose to unfurl Pakistani flag in a government school in Poonch. The students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Mendhar, displayed the Pak flag when a function was about to begin to mark the I-Day. The SDM was the chief guest while SHO Abid Rafiqi and SDPO Riyaz Tantrey were the guests of honour. Some boys of the school appeared on the scene carrying a Pakistani flag. They unfurled it on the occasion and also saluted. These boys also took selfies while as many people present on the occasion did not object to the anti-national act. "Who is behind this act? Who sows the seeds of hatred in these innocent brains whom we consider the future of our country," asked a school teacher who did not want to be named. "We need now to give a serious thought and introspect and take strong measures to keep away such elements from the society so that the poison of hatred won't let spread any more," he said. Many people of the area have questioned the school administration for allowing such a brazen anti-national act.
Meanwhile, talking to Early Times, SDM Mendhar Rahul Yadav said he has directed the police to take cognizance of the matter.
Two students of class 11th have been identified by the police and were being questioned as on whose directions they unfurled the Pakistani flag, said sources.
