8/18/2017 11:42:33 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: Over one hundred newly selected Assistant Professors from various government degree colleges, who were alumni of University of Jammu, were on Friday humiliated in the name of felicitation.
They were specially invited by Dean Students Welfare to felicitate them for their induction into government service but when they reached the varsity campus, firstly they had to wait for hours for their felicitation but at the concluding minutes, mementos were handed over to them unceremoniously by the students.
The newly inducted Assistant Professors in Government Degree Colleges informed Early Times that on 14th of August, they got a phone call from Dean Students Welfare's office, inviting them for felicitation function on 18th of August at Zorawar Singh Auditorium at 2 PM. A communiqué was also forwarded to respected colleges by the DSW office in this regard.
"We were asked to report before 2 PM but to our utter surprise, till 3 PM, the gates of Zorawar Singh auditorium were not opened. When the function began it was revealed that it was an induction programme for the students of new session", an Assistant Professor said.
He further said that two cultural items were performed by students of varsity, which was followed by long and eloquent speeches by guests and most of the officials were showering praises on their counterpart
Humiliation
"We came to varsity after taking casual leave from our colleges but such sheer humiliation was never accepted from our own institution. Such irresponsible behaviour of some officials has brought disrepute to the institution."
and sycophancy was at its height in these listless speeches.
The induction programme concluded at 5:30 PM, after which all the students left the auditorium and then felicitation programme ultimately begun.
"Though the programme was organized by DSW and the alumni were invited by them but neither DSW nor any other officers who were speaking at the function, uttered a word regarding achievement of their alumni. Only the Vice Chancellor reminded the gathering that these newly inducted Assistant Professors were products of University and by their hard work they had got gazetted jobs and students should learn from their hard work", another AP said, adding that the words of VC were applauded by APs, who were eagerly waiting for encouragement to their hard work.
The APs further informed that only some of the APs were given mementos by Vice Chancellor and Chief guest, whereas most of them were given mementos by few girl students of varsity.
After haphazardly distributing the mementos among the APs, all were asked for a group photograph and the programme concluded. "We came to varsity after taking casual leave from our colleges but such sheer humiliation was never accepted from our own institution, which had nurtured us and make our future", another AP rued, adding that such irresponsible behaviour of some officials bringing disrepute for the institution.
