Rajouri-Plulian road in shambles, authorities unmoved
9/19/2017 10:37:36 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 19: Twenty four kilometer long Rajouri-Plulian road is in worst pathetic condition for the last many years and the Public Works Department (R&B) failed badly to repair this important road forcing the habitats of many villages to face unavoidable difficulties especially during rainy season.
This uneven and potholes filled road also meet Rajouri-Dungi-Veer Bhadhreshwar (LoC road) at Plulian and is the shortest route for morethan thirty thousand population living in many villages on this road.
During last many years several deputations of the people met with the senior officers of PWD (R&B) , District Administration, local successive MLAs & MLCs , but reportedly due to political differences the road instead getting blacktopped continued to become more & more bad "Many times funds were withdrawn on the name of repair but without any desired results.
"Proposals were submitted for the widening, blacktopping of this road but the work couldn't be matured due to financial restrains" said F. Choudhry, AEE,PWD.
"After repeated resentments expressed by the inhabitants of the area now this road has been brought under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) for speedy construction work" said a senior PWD (R&B) officer.
When contacted concerned Mushtaq Raina, Executive Engineer , PMGSY said that the about 6 months ago the road was handed over to our department and tenders for the widening, construction and blacktopping of the road were called .
" But before the tenders could open , a local contractor, who failed to submit tender as per official requirements, moved to the Court and got the process stayed" said Mushtaq Raina.
He added the department continued to pursue their view in the court and in the month of July the stay was vacated by the Court.
"The project proposal with a cost of Rs 22 crore (Rajouri-Plulian road) have been cleared and technical sanction has been accorded. Now we will invite tenders and it was hoped that in the month of November the construction work on this road will be started" said Mushtaq Raina, Executive Engineer, PMGSY.
