Jammu must fall in line to break wall between regions by following Kashmiri diktats
New type of movement
9/19/2017 11:42:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 19: Kashmir on Monday witnessed a new type of movement started to make the people of Jammu to fall in line so that the high wall created by them between Jammu and Kashmir was broken. It's a new type of movement in the sense that it doesn't believe in the principle of reciprocity or principle of give and take; it wants Jammu to kneel and accept whatever Kashmiri leaders ask it to accept taking into consideration the fact that what the Kashmiri leaders say is correct.
The newly-founded so-called civil society group called 'We the People' started this movement. It said that its aim was to "bridge the gap socially, politically, and geographically between Kashmir and Jammu as there is a lot of disparity that has been created between the two regions".
The leader of this group is none other then the nephew of Farooq Abdullah and son of former Chief Minister GM Shah, Muzzafar Shah. Shah is also the self-styled chief of Awami National Conference. Other members of the group include advocates G N Shaheen and Mir Javed and a religious leader Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam.
Shah stated that he and other members of the group will start a campaign and visit the whole state to "bring all the people beyond religious and political lines under one banner". And what will be the point under focus during the discussions the group will have in different places of the state" It will Article 35-A and those who had been opposing it. They would solicit the support of all people inhabiting all the three regions in favour of Article 35-A against which many daughter of the state, Hindu refugees from Pakistan and a NGO "We the Citizens" have approached the Supreme Court to get it declared null and void on the ground that it is anti-women, anti-refugees and anti-Indian.
"We will pick up a full civil society which will comprise members from Jammu and Ladakh and Kashmir. This group will stand there in the Supreme Court and will be part of the all the SC deliberations on Article 35A. This is the job we want to do as a part of this committee. We have joined together irrespective of political views and religion," Muzzafar Shah said inSrinagar
"The people of Jammu and Kashmir (read Kashmir) on this part of the ceasefire line take Article 35-A and Article 370 as the spirit of their identity till final resolution of the dispute on Jammu and Kashmir and would not like to disturb Article is sought to be disturbed by involving Supreme Court of politically sensitive which has potential to ruin the rot," he further said. He added that "it is the incumbent duty upon Indian National Congress to protect the Article 35-A and restore Article 370 in letter and spirit till final resolution of the dispute on Jammu and Kashmir, they added.
"The attempts to disturb or play with Article 35-A has united the people of Jammu and Kashmir in all the three regions i e. Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, because nobody wants to play with it or allow anybody to play with it. We all stand in defense of Article 35-A, irrespective of our political belief, religious denominations, ethnic classifications and regional destinations. Let us suggest do not play with it," he further said.
It is strange that this newly-founded group wants the people of Jammu and Ladakh to support Article 35-A. There was nothing whatever in what he said that the views of the people of Jammu and Ladakh also mattered as they were also part and parcel of the state. Such approach failed in the passed and it will fail again given the fact that Jammu and Kashmiris not a homogenous state.
