Kathua, Nov 22: Continuing with their efforts to check the entry of banned items into the State under the continued guidance and directions of Javed Ahmed Khan, Excise Commissioner, J&K, the sleuths of Excise Department with the support of local Police at Toll Post, Lakhanpur, foiled a major attempt of smuggling Polythene into the State by seizing 9000 kgs of banned polythene bags from a truck bearing registration No. JK01W-7143.
On reporting at Toll Post Lakhanpur for clearance, as per the documents Nut/Bolt vide Invoice No. 1006558630 dated 31-10-2017 consigned by M/s Sundaram Fasteners Ltd. to M/s Chenab Bridge Project undertaking Jammu.
The whole operation was supervised by the Deputy Excise Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan and executed by the team of Excise Department, consisting of Excise & Taxation Officers Dr.Varinder Gupta, Sourabh Sharma, Showkat Hayat Mattoo, Sandeep Gupta, Inspector Khalid Manhas , Sub-Inspectors Kanwaljeet Shan, Tousif Sheikh, and Excise Guards Nihal Singh and Mohd Shakeel.
The Excise Commissioner, Javed Ahmed Khan while conveying his appreciation to the team urged them to keep on the good work and continue their efforts to further thwart the nefarious designs of such elements.
