Jammu, Nov 22: Three days training on Early Childhood Education (ECE) concluded today at Hotel Swagat Jammu. The training was attended by about 85 participants including Anganwadi workers, Supervisors, CDPOs, MLTC and VLTC staff.
The training was organized by National Development Foundation (NDF) in partnership with UNICEF in collaboration with Directorate of ICDS with technical support from Vikramshila.
During the training programme Suman Raina and Rita from Vikramshila Kolkata trained the participants on importance of Early Years, Principles of early learning, How Children learn, Importance of play in Early childhood Education and Free play, J&K state curriculum "Nanhekadam", Model center, Domains of development guided activity- cognitive development activity, 3 pillars of ECE curriculum (Activity based, Theme based & Age appropriate), organization of class room space, discussion on model center setup, material making, outdoor games, storytelling and rhymes etc. Before the training NDF and Vikramshila had setup four model ECE centres in Jammu district. Participants also visited the model ECE centres in four different groups. Rajiv Khajuria Founder Emeritus NDF in his concluding remarks added that NDF in partnership with UNICEF has adopted 48 angawnadi centres to be developed as model ECE centres for further replication in other anganwadi centres also. He requested the participants to transfer the learning of the training in their concerned centres for overall development of the children and their better early childhood education.
