Early Times Report

Poonch, Nov 23: "Ek chori aur upar se seenazori". This couplet fits as far as working of some corrupt and arrogant BDOs of Rural Development Department Poonch district are concerned.
Early Times has exposed many times some BDOs of Poonch district defying RTI act and acting on stories carried by this newspaper, ACD Poonch called a meeting of BDOs of Poonch district and asked them why they are not obeying RTI act and are providing information to RTI applicants.
In public interest, Early Times approached ACD office and asked why people are being denied RTI reply from the department.
During the meeting, an arrogant BDO Balakote namely Abdul Rashid said, " I don't care about RTI and newspapers. Go and published whatever you want".
Such statements show that from bottom to top, all are involved. Some BDOs who were present in the meeting were not satisfied with the reply given by BDO Balakote.
In front of ACD Poonch, BDO Balakote, BDO Mendhar and BDO Mandi in a careless attitude behaved in an arrogant manner with Early Times reporter and said, "Jao jo karma hai kar lo". ACD Poonch intervened and directed all the BDOs that if an applicant is not satisfied with regard to RTI, then every BDOs must obey the RTI act fully.
Corruption in RDD has reached to an alarming level that even BDO'S are openly indulging in war fo words in from of their senior i.e ACD Poonch. When asked about irrelevant reply given by some BDOs, ACD while talking to Early Times reporters, said, "I will give direction to all to give proper reply and in future, I will not tolerate any complaint related to RTI". Meanwhile people of Mendhar and Balakote have said that BDO office Balakote and Mendhar have become a hub of brazen corruption with common man is feeling helpless.
Moreover, allegation of arrogant behaviour of BDO Mandi are also coming to fore as people are saying that BDO Mandi is hugely arrogant and he never listens to public. Locals have demanded that a vigilance enquiry should be initiated against those BDOs who are being accused of corruption by public of Balakote, Mendhar, Mankote, Surankote and Mandi.
