Locals demand Govt Polytechnic for Mendhar sub-division | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report
POONCH, Jan 21: People of Mendhar sub-division have demanded opening of a government polytechnic as the youth of the area have to go outside for vocational training sources said here today. They said Mendhar Sub-division is a vast area consisting of three blocks including Mendhar, Mankote and Balakote. The Sub-division is situated near the line of control (LoC) where the basic facilities are very less. They said due to border skirmishes this sub-division remain mostly disturbed due to shelling etc from across the border. But still then the youth of the area want technical institution to allow vocational training for their betterment, sources adding that youth of all the three blocks have been demanding opening of at least one polytechnic in the area since years, source further added. Ex-chairman Panchayat Mankote block, Mohd Yunis Dar said that by opening a polytechnic in Mendhar area would benefit lot of youth besides it will fulfill the elementary requirement of the area. Balakote youth president Zaheer Khan while talking to Early Times said, "We are in dire need of a Govt Polytechnic in Mendhar as our student community have to proceed for other areas to attain the vocational training in different streams. So the govt must open a polytechnic in Mendhar to honour the aspirations of the youth." |
