Transparency claims of PDP-BJP Govt lost in oblivion
Selected candidates 'rejected' to adjust MLA's son
1/21/2018 11:24:49 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 21: Belying tall claims of honesty, the PDP-BJP government has reportedly adjusted son of a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and candidates selected by Service Selection Board (SSB) after due process, have not been allowed to join the department.
Reliable sources in Tourism Department informed Early Times during the tenure of previous dispensation, it had created six posts of Assistant Tourist Officer (ATO) in Tourism department and referred the posts to SSB for recruitment in 2011. The posts were advertised in 2012 while as the written test was conducted in 2015 and interviews were held in 2016. The list of selected six candidates was published in the newspapers in mid-2017, but the candidates were not allowed to join the department due to the filling of two posts by Directorate of Tourism Kashmir in 2016.
"The SSB selected ATOs visited the department concerned regarding their joining, the higher officials of department gave lame excuses and verbally assured that their joining will be done within days but after atleast six months of the selection, nothing has been done", sources said, adding that it was being done to adjust a legislator's son through the backdoor.
Sources alleged that before adjusting legislators' relatives, the department had six posts but after filling the two posts, out of six, at present department has only four posts. "Giving legality to the adjustment of Legislator's son and another politician's relative, the incumbent government in the beginning constituted an empowered committee vide government order no. 1423- GAD of 2009 dated: 14.10.2009 and issued sanction for the regularization of contractual Assistant Tourist Officer of Tourism department in terms of the J&K civil services (Special Provisions) Act, 2010.
These two were adjusted on prospective basis with relaxation of 2 years and nine months and 16 days as on 01.01.2016. It was astounding and puts a question mark over the regularization of contractual employees at a time, when thousands of employees working in various government department as contractual for more than 10-15 years but the said government had failed to regularize them but for regularization of legislators relatives government had not waited for completion of seven years and made a special provision for regularize them.
"Before assuming power, the current government had assured clean governance and transparency but the claims have turned out to be empty recurring", said an insider.
