Army Chief's hard talk leaves Pakistan guessing
3/16/2018 11:20:37 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 16: Army Chief Bipin Rawat's statement that hostilities with Pakistan would end on Indian terms has put the neighbouring country in a tight spot as its feeling the heat of the counter offensive launched by the Indian forces.
He alluded to a rise in cross-border firing by India as part of a larger strategy to put pressure on Pakistan. "So, we have raised the ante by resorting to cross border firing which is leading to violations of ceasefire.
"Earlier, the burden was only on us to man the border and remain alert and now the Pakistan Army is facing the same pain. They also have to now remain alert on the border," the Army chief said.
A defence analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Army Chief has made it clear that India won't tolerate terrorists and infiltrators. Neither would it tolerate any misadventure from Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it."
He said, "Indian Army has changed its strategy and is paying Pakistan back in its own coin. Attempts of Pakistan to send in terrorists into this side have been foiled due to the robust counter infiltration grid being at place." The analyst said that no talks can be held with Pakistan till it stops patronizing the terrorists and supporting them. "Pakistan is feeling the heat and wants India to be bit soft. The retaliatory action by Indian troops has sent the Pakistan soldiers packing. The terrorists are finding it hard to infiltrate into this side. Whoever tries to cross over gets killed on the LoC."
A politician said that India should neither lower the guard nor should it compromise with the Pakistan till it stops its nefarious activities. "We have tried our best to reconcile with Pakistan and have given them many chances," he added.
The politician said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi after assuming power invited then Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his oath taking ceremony. His surprise visit to Lahore was an attempt to make a new beginning. Just two days after PM Modi's Lahore visit terrorists attacked the airbase at Pathankot thus derailing the entire process." He said, "Time has proved that politicians in Pakistan are just puppets and nothing more. Indian leadership handing over the command to Army and allowing it to deal with Pakistan Army has been one of the best decisions taken by the PM-Modi led government."
