PDP led government in no mood to annoy separatists by reopening cinema halls in Kashmir!
No entertainment for tourists

Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: Peoples Democratic Party led government in Jammu and Kashmir has been claiming that no stone is being left unturned to woo tourists to Kashmir but the fact is that government has failed to reopen the cinema halls in the Valley.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Tourists who visit Kashmir they take a break from their daily routine and want to enjoy but once they land in the Valley they come to know that there is no place which they can visit for entertainment."
He said, "If cinema hall can be opened in Saudi Arabia why these theaters can not be opened in Kashmir. The present regime is allowing the separatists to call the shots and in a way is helping them to establish their writ."
He said, 'Recently the former Forest Minister Lal Singh claimed that J&K government is following the dictations of the separatists and is dancing to their tunes."
"If the J&K government really wants to attract the tourists then it should stop appeasing separatists and should take a firm stand like the Saudi government," said a Kashmir watcher.
Its in place to mention here that Saudi Arabia unveiled its first cinema in over 35 years earlier this week with a private screening of the blockbuster Black Panther.
The invitation-only gala event in a converted Riyadh concert hall last week was the first in a series of test screenings after a ban on cinemas was lifted last year. US giant AMC has been granted the first licence to operate movie theatres.
"Welcome to the era when movies can be watched by Saudis not in Bahrain, not in Dubai, not in London ... but inside the kingdom," said the CEO of AMC.
Religious hardliners, who have long vilified movie theatres as vulgar and sinful, were instrumental in shutting them down in the 1980s.
A Kashmir watcher said, "It was in 1990 when the militants and hardliners in Kashmir shut the movie theaters and thwarted the attempt of the then Farooq Abdullah led government to reopen the cinema halls in 2000."
He said, "At least Farooq Abdullah made an attempt to reopen the cinema halls in Kashmir but the present regime has not even tried to do so."
"If you want tourists to visit Kashmir you have to ensure that they get all the facilities and they enjoy their holidays," he added.
