PM's visit has proved a damp squib: Harsh
5/20/2018 10:23:54 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 20: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Harsh Dev Singh has described the Prime Minister's Jammu visit as damp squib and said it had largely demoralized the people of Jammu whose pressing issues did not find even a mention by the visiting dignitary.
Speaking a few sentences in Dogri through the aid of tele-prompters without addressing the burning issues of the highly incarcerated Dogra land could not satisfy the urges of the people of Jammu region. He said that with entire focus on Kashmir centric issues, endorsement of unilateral ceasefire decision and describing himself as a disciple of Kashmiriyat, the Prime Minister had completely disregarded the sentiments of Jammu region which gave his party an unprecedented mandate with two MPs and 25 seats in the Assembly. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Referring to the olive branch extended to the Kashmir terrorists by the Prime Minister with invitation to them to join mainstream and his endorsement of unilateral ceasefire, Singh regretted that the earlier slogans of 'zero tolerance' and 'hot pursuit' against terrorists seemed to have been abandoned so as to keep Mehbooba Mufti in good humour.
With both PM Modi and Mehbooba Mufti exchanging pleasantries and attempting to please one another, the Jammu region issues faced a total eclipse and rather receded into the oblivion.
While the people expected the Prime Minister to make a statement over the raging fires on the borders and consequent loss of innocent lives and property, the PM regretfully chose to remain mum, lamented Harsh. The promise of five marla plots in safer zones for border dwellers and special recruitment drives had also seemed to have been consigned to the dustbin with no mention made about the same by the PM or any of his aides, regretted Harsh.
The issue of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis illegally settled in Jammu had been duly brought to the notice of Union govt by various social and political organizations besides the civil society with the people nurturing hopes for a final word by the PM in this regard, but were saddened to see it completely ignored in the PM's speech, he said.
Likewise the Rasana episode which had transcended the national boundaries and become an international issue with even UN commenting upon the same, the PM failed to even mention the same and to address the Jammu's demand for a CBI probe into the same. Similar was the fate of issues pertaining to WPR and POJK Migrants who were also a disappointed lot, said Harsh.
