After appeasing Kashmir centric leaders, Shah goes into damage control mode
Ceasefire Row
5/20/2018 10:57:12 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 20: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah has tried to address the resentment in the country against the ceasefire decision of the central government in Jammu and Kashmir by stating that truce is not for the terrorists.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that it seems that BJP leadership has realized that decision to announce ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir has not gone well with the nationalist people across the country. "Even the Army and other security agencies are not happy with the decision as the war against terrorists in the Valley had entered into a decisive phase," he said, adding that "One month break would allow terrorists to regroup and reframe their strategy."
A politician said, "It has been established beyond doubt that BJP announced the ceasefire decision just to appease its ally PDP in Jammu and Kashmir and to ensure that BJP remains in power in the state."
Referring to Amit Shah's statement he said that the BJP president now has gone into "damage control mode." "He (Shah) knows it very well that ceasefire decision is bound to backfire. By stating that truce is not for the terrorists he is trying to set the records straight."
A defence analyst said that there is every possibility about terrorists may carry out a major attack in this month as they know it very well that they are not being chased. And they can strike according to their will. "Just one day before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Jammu district and killed five people, including a BSF jawan. Pakistan Army did not show any respect for the holy month of Ramadan and resorted to indiscriminate firing."
He said in coming days Pakistan would try its best to push in more terrorists into J&K by resorting to ceasefire violations. "Centre by announcing ceasefire has made things difficult for the security forces operating in the Valley," the defence analyst added.
A politician said that New Delhi has surrendered before the Kashmir centric leadership. "If they don't change their appeasement policy they would have to pay a heavy price for it. Recently army foiled an infiltration bid in north Kashmir's Handwara area by killing four militants."
He said that there were reports that terrorists have entered into Jammu region and may carry out an attack. "BJP led government in the Centre announced the ceasefire decision in a haste. If any untoward incident takes place New Delhi would have to cut a sorry figure," the politician added.
