Early Times Report

JAMMU, May 20: Be it situation of 2014 floods in valley or any election campaign, varsity convocation or inauguration of development projects , Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been visiting J&K state time and again but failed to address the issues of exiled Kashmiri Pandit migrants languishing in various camps and non camps in Jammu for the last over 28 years.
The KPs have been pinning high hopes in Narendra Modi government at centre and BJP -PDP coalition government in state to address the burning issues pertaining to the KP migrant community for the last three decades but giving a damn to visit their any of the camps in Jammu have shattered hopes of the KPs perhaps BJP may be thinking on the lines that KP votes hardly make any difference for them but KPs are labelled as supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party and unfortunately the head of the country have ignored this fact ,said a social activist Sunil Pandita of Jagti camp while talking to EarlyTimes.
Many people were expecting this time that PM Narendra Modi will have some plans for the exiled KP community as their ordeal have reached to a height now but to their utmost surprise he even did not spoke a single word for them during his two day visit to Jammu and Kashmir where he attended the convocation of SKUAST Jammu and inaugurated a tunnel at Zojila in Ladakh region besides other programmes.
It is pertinent to mention here that KP migrant relief holders who have turned over aged now, have been demanding increase in their monthly cash assistance since long as a meagre amount of Rs 2500 per head and maximum of Rs 10000 per family was being presently paid to them by the Government which according to them was not serving the purpose of their day to day needs as the prices of essential commodities have gone sky high besides education of their children was at stake. They urged in one voice that their financial issues be addressed untill the community was not rehabilitated and compensated in a proper way.
