NC, Congress & Panthers party demand dissolution of Assembly
7/11/2018 11:09:02 PM
The mainstream opposition parties,
including National Conference, the Congress and Panthers party, have been consistent in their demand for the dissolution of the Assembly, which has been in suspended animation since the imposition of Governor's rule. In fact the mood is upbeat in the NC, the Congress and the Panthers party, because of their possible better performance in the next Assembly elections. This seems to be the reason for former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah demanding dissolution of Legislative Assembly to put an end to rumor mongering over government formation and horse trading of legislators."National Conference is demanding dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly. The rumors mongering of horse trading of legislators or breaking of political parties for alleged formation of alternate government will be solved with the dissolution of assembly," he has stated.
"We are not demanding immediate polls. We understand that to create conducive atmosphere for elections in Kashmir, it will take some time. But in the meantime, we should put an end to unnecessary rumor mongering and let assembly be dissolved," the NC Vice President said.
Omar brushed aside reports that BJP contacted them for government formation. Referring to the revolt within the PDP, he said, "It is their internal party matter and their leadership has to resolve the issues of dissatisfaction among the legislators."The former CM said: "We are not behind the formation of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor in creating dissent within their party." He said under the Governor's rule there was no improvement in situation in Kashmir. His claim that the security scenario has not witnessed any improvement under the Governor's rule is too hasty a claim. As Chief Minister and senior party leader Omar should know it better than anybody else that if the security scenario has remained fluid for the last 27 years despite killing of militants in scores it is not possible that the security situation may improve under Vohra's rule. Vohra does not hold a magic stick in his hand.
Omar Abdullah is a better judge than the senior functionaries of the security forces, the Army and the Police because he as Chief Minister failed to stem the rot for six years and the mess cannot be resolved within one month of Governor's rule. Yes, since Vohra has kept the Assembly in suspended animation it means he may have received instructions to do so from the central Government. If Harsh Dev Singh is to be believed the keeping of Assembly in animated suspension members continue to draw perks which is a drain on the state exchequer. He too wants dissolution of the Assembly because he is confident that his party could defeat the BJP supremacy in the region of Jammu. It is time for the BJP led NDA Government and Vohra to implement then demand of the NC, Congress and Panther Party.
