Police arrest 2 active LeT men in Sopore
Infiltration bid foiled in Tangdar sector

KUPWARA, July 21: There is no let up in militancy related incidents across the Kashmir valley, and this time army foiled an infiltration bid in Tangdar sector of north Kashmir today. "There were intelligence reports that a group of 4-5 heavily armed militants were seen in the dense woods of Balthedvan forest area, after which army from local camp and other patrolling party launched search operation to nab the militants", a top army official told Early Times.
The official said that soon after the searches militants fired upon patrolling party near the Line of Control (LoC) the fire was retaliated by security forces. Army's 6 Gadhwal and a group of militants had a stand-off in the dense woods of Balthedyan along the LoC adjacent to Tony Post. He said that the militants do take advantage of the dense woods as we avoid collateral damages when the areas are adjacent where militants were trapped.
However sources said that, as the forces intensified the searches, the group of militants believed to be infiltrators opened fire triggering off a gunfight. "Additional reinforcement was also called after which they rushed to the spot. Meanwhile police claims that they have arrested two active members of LeT outfit in Sopore today, they had also busted a network of OGWs on July 16. Police on Monday claimed to have busted a network of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant outfit at Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. According to police statement that while acting upon a credible intelligence/ input, Sopore Police with the assistance of Army 22 RR, 177 and 179 Bn. CRPF arrested two active members of LeT out fit.
They were identified as Tanveer Ahmad Mir S/O Ab Qayoom Mir and Tanveer Ahmad Najar S/O Gh Hassan Najar both residents of Brath Kalan Sopore today on 21.07.2018 from Dangerpora area along with 01 UBGL Grenade, 01 Magazine with 15 Rds of AK47 and matrix sheets -02.
In this regard Case FIR NO: 203 /2018 U/S 7/25 A. Act, 13 ULA Act was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation taken up, said statement.
