Machail Yatra: Tussles between Kishtwar, Bhaderwah 'Sansthas' intensifies
8/28/2018 11:25:48 PM
Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Aug 28: The tussle between a local Sanstha group in Kishtwar and the Sanstha group of Bhaderwah has escalated after the latter's head Thakur Kulbir Singh Jamwal disassociated himself from annual holy mace of Mata Chandi from next year.
He has announced that there will be no Yatra from Bhaderwah next year onwards following the August 22 incident wherein members of local Sanstha group were beaten up and cane charged following a verbal order from magistrate when Chari Mubarak (Holy mace of Matta Chandi) reached Machail temple.
As per the details available with "Early Times", Jamwal, the patron-in-chief of Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha and sole trustee of Sarv Shakti Chandi Mata temple at Chinote, Bhaderwah who manages the affairs of the Machail Yatra disassociated himself from it.
In a resolution passed by Sanstha members late Monday night at Chinote, it was resolved that there will be no annual holy mace from Chinote temple from next year and also demanded to the governor of Jammu and Kashmir for constituting board for Machail shrine at par with Mata Vashnavo Devi shrine board.
In the meeting members also condemned the role of the so called Machail temple management committee which according to the resolution has not being constituted as per norms and alleged brutal attack on volunteers accompanying holy mace of Chandi Mata when it reached the Darbar on August 22.
The members also alleged disrespect to holy mace by the management of temple. The resolution presented by Jamwal was signed by 121 members and after discussion at length it will send to governor of J&K and Machail temple management president Nek Ram who has been mentioned as so-called president in the letter.
Jamwal also condemned the role of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana and SSP Kishtwar for their utter silence in the whole episode. He said that despite early apprehension of incident he had conveyed the administration about the same, but nothing tangible was done by the concern DC Kishtwar to avoid the situation that has ashamed the followers of the Mata Chandi and has demanded impartial inquiry into the incident.
It is to mentioned here that Jamwal has already disassociated himself from the acts and deeds of the Sanstha and relinquished all his authorities and powers in favor of 41 life time members in 2013 which include Managing/Executive committee members.
He had also made it clear that the account of Machail temple is maintained and managed by Pt Krishan Lal Sharma of Atholi and other accounts are always under the charge of President.
"Because of my advancing age and domestic occupation I am unable to provide the services or devote the time towards the accomplishment of duties and execution of powers as vested in me by virtue of the Constitution/Bylaws of the Sanstha", Jamwal said.
He however said that holy mace of Mata Chandi will start as usual from Chinote temple Bhaderwah as per past practice and there will be no change in customs/rituals in respect of Yatra. But after the recent attack on Yatra and disrespect by some Machail committee members to holy mace, he formally decided to not take Charri Yatra from next year.
As per the resolution, the member's term the attitude of DC Kishtwar as shameful added that the people at Bhaderwah and Jammu including large number of women also held a protest against DC Kishtwar and called for action against him.
They stated that the humiliation, harassment, torture and demon behaviour with the devotees coming from Jammu/Udhampur has never been seen or heard during 30 years of Yatra.
"It is a sorry state of affairs that the devotees/Yatris from Jammu/Udhampur were beaten by local persons of Machail village and the police stationed there instead of coming to their rescue have joined hands with them and above the DC Kishtwar was stationed there and remain mute spectator and allowed the vandalism of the local persons to prevail" read the resolution which added that DC Kishtwar role tactically support the local elements creating disturbance as a part of pre planned strategy to attack the holy Charri Mubarak.
Some people also allege that the magistrate even gives verbal directions to security personals to open the fire on legs of the people, but maintaining the sanctity of the temple, the security personals holding the weapon did not act and thus a major tragedy was averted inside the temple premises.
