BARAMULLA, Aug 29: Emotional scenes were witnessed after the dead body of two slain policemen reached to their native villages in Rafiabad area of north Kashmir district. Eyewitness from Watergam area said that, just one week ago, the slain policeman had wished them on Eid-ul Azha, and today they gave shoulders to their coffins.
Only seven days passed, after we shared many things on Eid-ul Azha, but today I felt sorry that I have to shoulder his coffin, that I had never dreamt of, local resident of Watergam told ET.
Bullet knows nothing except the dance of death and today we are seeing that, the people from far of the places in Watergam area have reached on the funeral procession of this slain policeman, said a local resident of Watergam.
The slain man was an angel, as he never fought with anybody, but unfortunately this death has not spared anybody.
All the people including men, women and children were seen wailing over the death of Ishfaq Ahmad.
Ishfaq Ahmad Mir vide belt no 758/SPN, S/O Abdul Aziz Mir R/O Watergam, the deceased policeman was appointed in the police department as constable in 2012.
The relatives of the slain policeman said that he was the only bread owner, he is survived by old aged father Abdul Azir Mir and mother, where as he is also having young brother and two sisters.
Meanwhile it is also learnt that people from various areas have reached Hardu Chanam Rafiabad to participate in the funeral procession of Iqbal Mir who was killed by militants in Shopian district. Mohammad Iqbal Mir vide belt no 760/SPN S/O Abdul Rehman Mir R/O Hardu Chanam Rafiabad was also appointed as constable in 2012.
However sources said that today afternoon militants fired indiscriminately upon a police party at Arhama in district Shopian.
In this incident four cops sustained gunshot wounds and were evacuated to nearby hospital for medical attention. However, all the four injured policemen succumbed to their injuries.
A top police official identified the slain policemen as Constable Ishfaq Ahmad Mir, Constable Javaid Ahmad Bhat, Constable Mohammad Iqbal Mir and SPO Adil Manzoor Bhat.
The official said that police has registered a case and initiated investigations in the instant matter.
To pay homage to four brave hearts of Jammu and Kashmir Police who were martyred today in Shopian, a wreath laying ceremony was held today at District Police Lines Shopian.
Civil & Police Officers led by Director General of Police J&K S.P Vaid laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains & paid rich tributes to the martyr who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Among others who paid floral tributes include IGP Kashmir S.P Pani, DIG SKR, and DC Shopian, ASP Shopian and other officers and jawans, said police official.
