Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 3: Despite serious charges, a Ranger of Forest Department, posted in Kathua district is still enjoying plum posting in the department, raising questions over accountability of the government functionaries. As per documents available with Early Times there are serious allegations and FIRs registered against the said Ranger but the authorities failed to take action against him.
Copy of FIR registered against the said Ranger by Vigilance Organization of Jammu (VOJ) which is in possession of Early Times reveals that on 29-7-2017 VOJ registered an FIR against the said Ranger under section 5 (1) (a) r/w 5 (2) J&K PC Act 2006 for acquiring disproportionate assets. Another document in the possession of Early Times reveals that an FIR has been registered against the Ranger in police station Lakhanpur in the year of 2017 after a truck belonging to the said Ranger was seized with 30 quintals of banned polythene bags. According to sources Joint Director Forest Protection Force Jammu had written to Director Forest Protection Force Jammu that some forest officials from Kathua Forest division had caused hindrance during checking of a truck carrying un-finished willow clefts on 2-1-2012. In the same order the officer clearly mentioned the same Ranger along with a Forester and a Forest Guard obstructed the seizure process by parking their vehicle before the loaded truck outside the PFP Complex Narwal Jammu and used abusive language.
"By doing so they warranted hindrance, resistance and obstruction to the FPF staff for carrying out their seizure process", reads the order.
Meanwhile, then ARTO Kathua Indu Jamwal also filed a complaint against the said Ranger at police station Lakhanpur following which FIR was registered against him. However, the investigation in this regard has been stayed by the court.
