Shortage of manpower hits Agriculture Sub-division Kalakote
36 post of AEO, JAEO & AEA vacant
9/3/2018 10:52:00 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 3: The non availability of requisite manpower is affecting the performance of Agriculture Sub-division, Kalakote of district Rajouri as nearly 36 posts of Agriculture Extension Officers, Junior Agriculture Extension Officers and Agriculture Extension Assistant are lying vacant since long.
Sources informed Early Times that presently, the Agriculture Sub-division Kalakote has four zones and more than 16 circles and more than three dozen panchayats, but all of them constituted for smooth functioning of the department, has severely hits due to non-availability of requisite manpower.
"Out of these four zones including Mogla, Solki, Sial Sui and Panjah, only Mogla zone have conformed Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) and remaining three have run by the in-charge AEO", said sources adding that however, one more AEO is conformed in Sub division Kalakote and holding the charge of one of the zone but few month back, he transferred and engaged as Agriculture Assistant Input to maintain seed stock and timely delivery for seeds.
The callousness of department concerned judged from this fact that since the sub-division is running, no permanent official has been posted at the post of Agriculture Assistant Input by directorate office so far.
Reliable source further said that all the 16 posts of Junior Agriculture Extension Officers have lying vacant, resulting of which, the working of circle level is hit badly.
However, the incumbent Agriculture Sub- division Officer and his/her predecessor time and again informed the district as well as directorate office to fill the vacancy but they never heed to the matter.
"Given the absence of manpower, various schemes including centre flagships' programme including Fasal Bima Yojana and other, is not executing in letter and spirit", said an official while wishing anonymity.
Against the sanctioned strength of 26 of Agriculture Extension Assistant (AEA) which is considered to be backbone of department, only nine post are fulfilled and a single AEA is holding the charge of more than five panchayats that too, in hilly areas whereas the district Jammu's sub division has surplus manpower and one AEA is holding one panchayats only.
