Now separatists out to support militants against CASO
9/5/2018 10:10:01 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: In an unusual trend, the separatists have suddenly come out if support of militants against the conduct of Cordon And Search Operation (CASO)s by the security forces.
Sources said the so called Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) is under much pressure from its Pakitani handlers that they have been issuing multiple statements against the CASO. Police is likely to probe the Hurriyat stand on this provocation.
On September 4, pro-Pakistan hawk and Hurriyat G Chairman Syed Ali Geelani participated in release of at least two handouts against the CASO.
One was from his Hurriyat G and the other was from the JRL.
In the Hurriyat G handout, Geelani "expressed his deep concern about the military concentration around Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir" which actually have become a hub of new age militancy.
The Hurriyat chairman alleged that during the cordon and search operations in dozens of villages of South Kashmir, people were forced to stay for the whole night at the roads, streets and fields. "Living under the shadow of a war like situation has created panic and an agonized atmosphere in almost all the villages of South Kashmir," Geelani said.
The same day in another handout the JRL comprising Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik condemned the continued "wave of terror and intimidation being unleashed by troops across south Kashmir in name of infamous CASO."
In an undue provocation to people, the leaders said: "No military might has ever succeeded in suppressing a peoples just political movements across the globe and neither will this. The dispute will have to be resolved politically in keeping with peoples will and choice."
Sources said Geelani was first to receive dictations from his Pakistan handlers on raising voice against CASOs and this was why he instantly issued a separate handout. "But later in the day, when other JRL leaders also received dictations, they acted accordingly through a joint statement," said a source.
A senior police official said the JRL move seems to be aimed at instigating more and more people to stage anti-India protests during the CASOs so that the militants get a chance to flee.
Sources said the police was likely to file case against JRL for its provocative statements against CASOs.
