NC President at his furious best during presser; rebukes journalists refuses to take questions

Early Times Report
srinagar, Sept 5: National Conference (NC) President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah was at its furious best today while addressing a press conference here. The NC President rebuked at least two journalists during the presser.
Dr. Abdullah attached a rider that he would not take any questions at the conclusion of the press conference. At the end of the day it seemed to be one-way traffic with all the vehicles moving in a particular direction.
Reports said that as soon as the NC core group concluded its meeting the waiting media persons were told that NC President would address the media. Following this, the still photographers and video journalists started setting their equipment and were busy when Dr. Abdullah arrived at the venue.
Since the media persons were busy in setting their mikes and logos one among them asked the NC President to wait for the few seconds before the press conference is formally started. This virtually infuriated Dr. Abdullah and he took strong exception to 'diktats' issued to him by the media fraternity.
The NC President in a fit of anger asked the media person who had asked him to wait to shut up and said that the media persons' take more than due time in making the setting perfect for a particular press conference. After this the press conference started and the journalists started discharging their professional duties.
But this was not the end of the drama as yet another incident took place. While the press conference had just started a journalist received a reprimand from the NC President. This journalist who was just conversing with his fellow colleagues was also asked to shut up by Dr. Abdullah.
The NC President yelled at the journalist and told him to behave properly during the press conference. The journalists at the press conference were taken aback while Dr. Abdullah was asking them to toe the line. The NC President had in fact asked the media persons not to pose any question giving an impression that it was one way traffic.
Surprisingly, none of the media persons objected to the diktats to the NC President and they turned out to be lame ducks in this whole affair. A senior journalist who was visibly angry said that Dr. Abdullah acted as a tough headmaster who wanted his children to toe his line even if he was wrong.
It would be in place to mention here that the NC President was booed at the Hazratbal shrine while he was there offering the Eid prayers on August 22. Some of the people at the shrine objected to presence of Dr. Abdullah and took exception to him chanting 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogan at a function at New Delhi some days back.
