jammu, Sept 6: After burning down more than 30 schools, leaving thousands of poor students without education and killing people in the name of Holy war, chief of Militant organisations in Kashmir- Syed Salah-ud-din has all of a sudden become a peace monger.
"Education of the younger generation, therefore, must be our first and foremost priority and we must take this up as a national obligation. This is a humble, earnest and urgent appeal, and I would like to direct it particularly towards teachers and senior students perusing their college and university education, to come forward and help the nation to navigate this challenge successfully. Equipping our children with quality education is as much a liberation struggle as our fight to end oppression, and teachers and senior students are the ablest to shoulder this responsibility. Their assistance and guidance to students in primary, middle and high schools and beyond will enable them to catch up and no longer lag behind in any manner," these are the words of the dreaded militant leader and head of the conglomerate of militant organisations- Syed Salah-ud-din.
The article was written by him and got published in one of the daily English news papers of the state. However the writing seems to have shocked one and all as it appears that the hawk as become a dove.
"Children are the future of every nation and ensuring their proper education is the most important aspect of nation building. As we carry forward our struggle for political independence we must not remain oblivious to other equally, if not more, vital dimensions of our life as a nation," reads the write-up.
However, what people are questioning right now is that where were such words till now when the education system is at a brink of a collapse and schools have been burnt and future of state's younger generation made bleak.
In 2016 protests alone, there were as many as 32 schools that were targeted by unknown persons since the unrest began in Kashmir on July 8 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces.
At that time, not even a single separatist or militant leader came out and asked the protestors not to set ablaze the educational institutions. Why now when everything stands vandalised that a human in a militant leader is born. "This is ironic and bizarre and we have no words to explain such sagacity through which these Pro-Pakistan elements are trying to justify themselves and come clean. They want themselves to be remembered as people who care for the society but the truth is that everyone knows what they have done and what they are even doing at present. They cannot befool people any longer," says a political commentator.
Interestingly, syed Salah-ud-din has termed education as the most important thing for Kashmir now and has all of a sudden become an advocate of the quality education in Jammu and Kashmir. One wonders whether to cry or laugh.
