Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 8: Violating the norms, the private tippers are plying during day time by mingling with the tippers, who carry the construction materials for the government works.
Sources said that traffic officials at several places have been allowing them to ply in lieu of greasing their palms. "Without support of traffic personnel, tippers can't ply during day time," an official of Traffic Department said.
As per the government order, no private tipper can enter into the city from 07:00AM to 09:00PM from the Pantha Chowk, Nowgam, Hyderpora, Bemina and Bye Pass entry points of the Srinagar city. In contrast to the government order, number of tippers have been seen, making their entry into the city through the above mentioned entry points, creating traffic disruptions in general and putting lives of commuters at risk in particular. "We have been suffering miserably because of the terror leashed by the tippers. No doubt, the tippers carrying construction materials for government works, have the permission to ply during the day time but they also have become threat to the lives of commuters, as the drivers do not obey traffic rules, ply at enormous speed," said a commuter Javid Ahmad.
The residents at Nowgam demanded that the tippers, who supply construction materials to the government works should be given passes, which they should be asked to display on their vehicles.
"The tippers, who supply construction materials to the government works should be given some document, which they should be asked to display on their vehicle, by this the tippers supplying construction materials to the private construction works during day time , will be identified and taken to task as per the law," said a resident Abdul Razzak of Sanatnagar.
The residents of Bemina's Hamdaniya colony added that the private tippers have often been coming to their area, providing construction materials such as bricks, sand, etc to the residents involved in the renovation or construction works.
"These private tippers manage their entry into the city, ply at their will by simply "paying some pennies" to the traffic personnel," they said.
Appealing, the traffic Police department to take necessary steps to ensure, no private tipper ply's during day time, the residents at Parraypora threatened that they would come on to the streets.
"We will fight tooth and nail, the movement of private tippers during day time," the residents said.
A senior police official said that he would look in the matter and would do everything possible to stop the movement of tippers, plying without permission during the day time. "We will launch a special drive against the tippers. Those violating traffic norms, would be dealt seriously," he said.
