Jammu, Sept 11: J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (Regd.), Jammu conducted a Literary- cum- Cultural programme today at Digiana Ashram, Digiana, Jammu. Dr. Baljeet Raina, a well known, writer, film maker, TV and stage activist, producer and director, presided over the programme whereas Bhupinder Singh Bhargava and S S Oberai were the guest of honour and special guest respectively on this occasion. S. Rajpaul Singh Mastana, President, J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam (J&KPSS) shared the dais.
Welcoming the guests Rajpaul Singh Mastana, President, J&KPSS said that the Sangam is contributing in the promotion of Punjabi literature and culture through various activities. During the past it has organized many Mushiaras, literary programmes, publication and release of Punjabi books and cultural programmes etc.
Three Punjabi short stories by Dr. Baljeet Raina, Jang S. Verman and Hardeep Singh Deep, , well known three Punjabi short story writers of Jammu, were read out. In the session of Kavita Paath Sesham Kaur Resham, Balvinder Singh, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Jang S. Verman, Suraj Singh Ratan, S S Chouhalvi, Bachan Bharti, Pyasa Anjum, Rajpaul Singh Mastana, Dr. Baljeet Raina and Bhupinder Singh Bharghava, the well known Punjabi poets of Jammu recited their poems, Ghazals and lyrics. A short musical programme was also presented on this occasion.
S S Oberai, a Vyang Lekhak from Faridabad presented an interesting light vein Vyang article with the theme of problems of beggers as seen by God in person's appearance. In his presidential address Dr. Baljeet Raina appreciated the efforts of J&K Punjabi Sahit Sangam for organizing such programmes . He said that the quality poetry and short stories were presented in the programme. He added that that now the literary activity of Jammu region is happening on a positive note with publication of books, periodicals and conduct of various literary and cultural programmes. The programme ended with the observance of two minutes of silence conducted as a mark of respect and tribute to Prof. Rita Jitendra. Her contribution in various disciplines of art & culture was remembered on this occasion.
