Centre mulls to keep PDP, NC confined to Kashmir only
Trifurcation Plan
9/11/2018 10:57:44 PM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: The news reports about Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government planning to trifurcate Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh before 2019 parliamentary polls has sent the Kashmir centric political parties into tizzy.
Sources said that the reports which are making rounds that the PM-Modi led government is finalizing a plan to turn Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh into union territories is making Kashmir centric parties believe that they would not get a chance again to rule all the three regions of the state. "During the past 70-years Kashmir centric parties have been enjoying all the privileges by claiming that they represent all the three regions but the fact is that these parties have always remained confined to Kashmir only," said a politician.
He said, "If all goes well and the trifurcation proposal is implemented the wings of the Kashmir based politicians would stand clipped and their jurisdiction will end at Qazigund. These parties have failed to do justice with Jammu and Ladakh regions during the past seven decades."
Sources said that National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party are devising a strategy to oppose the Centre's move and they may also seek the help of the separatists to thwart New Delhi's plan. "The process of forming a new government in the state has been pushed on the backburner to give final shape to the trifurcation plan," sources added.
They said, "Everyone in New Delhi is of the opinion that people of Jammu and Ladakh are nationalists and they are getting a raw deal due to them being linked with the Kashmir Valley, where anti-nationals, Pakistan stooges and terrorists have vitiated the atmosphere."
The nationalist people of Jammu and Ladakh need to be delinked to ensure that they don't suffer due to a few anti-national elements calling shots in Kashmir. "The Valley based parties during the past seven decades have never allowed anyone from Jammu or Ladakh to become the Chief Minister and have always strengthened their hegemony. Now the time has come to show them their worth by confining them to Kashmir only," sources added.
They said that NC and PDP deciding to stay away from the municipal and Panchayat polls could serve as a "last nail in their coffin" as both these parties wanted New Delhi to surrender before them. "To begin with the municipal and Panchayat polls would be held as per the schedule and grass root institutions would be made functional to set the ball rolling in Jammu and Ladakh region. The central government has decided to isolate the political parties in Kashmir and the forthcoming polls are just a step towards it," sources added
