During the meeting, Advisor informed the delegation that he had earlier received a memorandum over the demand and the process has already been initiated to give nod to include 5300 PoK DPs families in the package. The process of bringing ousted PoK DPs families in the ambit of PMDP is underway and in the upcoming State Administrative Council (SAC) meeting that will be held under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik, a decision over the same will be made as Government is committed to provide much awaited justice to every PoK DP family. Vyas further added that this issue will be kept in the Agenda during the SAC meeting and the same has been told to Cabinet Secretary.
While speaking during the meeting, SOS International Chairman said that a scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2015 at Bakshi Ground, Srinagar in which a fund worth Rs 2,000 crore was earmarked for PoK Displaced Persons of 1947 i.e. Rs 5.50 lakh for each family. Even, some of PoK DPs families have got their relief amount in their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Chuni informed Vyas that a total 31,619 PoK DP families were registered during their mass exodus from their ancestral places in PoK and out of which, 5,300 families were registered in their respective places/camps outside J&K but these 5,300 folks were excluded from this cash assistance. He further added that then, Government started the process of disbursing relief amount among 26, 319 families subtracting 5,300 families.
After listening to delegation, Advisor to Governor assured Chuni to solve the matter at earliest. VK Dutta and Ved Raj Bali accompanied Rajiv Chuni in delegation during the meet.
