Accuse hotel management of providing sub-standard food

Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 13: Scores of employees of Civil Secretariat working in the different departments and lodged at a famous hotel of summer capital of the state have complained of 'maltreatment' at the hands of the management of the hotel.
The employees have urged Governor Satya Pal Malik to intervene in the matter and ensure that they are treated as ideal citizens and not as pushovers. They have expressed lament over the lackadaisical attitude from the people at helm and said that no serious effort has been taken to settle their nerves.
The employees lodged at Hotel Heemal located on the banks of Dal Lake complained that they are being provided sub-standard food stuff by the hotel management. They said the food items being provided in the breakfast and the dinner is inferior in quality. They alleged that they are being treated as petty class citizens.
"We fail to understand that why no action is taken against the hotel management since they are providing sub-standard food to us. We lodged a complaint with the higher ups in this regard, but no action whatsoever has been taken so far. It seems that our complaint has fallen on deaf ears," said the employees while sharing views with Early Times.
The employees said that the hotel management is repeating the same menu and there is no variety when it comes to providing food material to them during the course of a day. They said the hotel management is bullying them and they are not able to get the food of their own choice.
"It seems that the government was just concerned about our lodging and they are at least bothered about the services being provided to us at this hotel. We are not getting food of our choice and the worst part is that the food being provided is of no use. It is of inferior quality and rotten that even animals would reject," said the employees.
The employees said that some of their colleagues fell ill and complained of food allergy after tasting the food stuff at the hotel. They demanded that Commissioner Food Safety should take up the matter with the management of hotel Heemal so that corrective measures are taken and that too at the earliest.
"On five days in a week we have our breakfast and dinner at the hotel while as on Saturdays and Sundays we also have lunch here. But the food stuff being provided is of no use and we feel that we are being cheated on daily basis. Some of us go out and take some food from the market but that is not possible every day," said the employees.
The employees said that the Governor, Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam and the advisors to the Governor should take note of the issue so that stern action is taken against the hotel management. They said that they are not demanding moon and stars, but only due rights.
