FCS&CA Director inspects Mills & Stores
9/22/2018 10:11:32 PM
Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today conducted a surprise inspection of various Atta Grinding Mills and Food Stores of the department which provide supplies to various districts of Jammu Division. During the visit, a team of officials including Kulraj Singh, Deputy Director Food & Rationing, Gian Khajuria, I/C Assistant Director Udhampur, Rakesh Kumar Junior Assistant, Sammi Bhatti and Ashok Kumar accompanied the Director.
The Director inspected district FCS&CA office and checked the records. Later, he visited the mills associated with the Atta Grinding for the department. During quality checking and on-the-spot weighing of Atta bags, few shortcomings were pointed out and immediate corrective measures were suggested by Director and his team. The Mills visited by the team included Trikuta Flour Mill, Mahajan Mini Flour Mill, New Udhpampur Flour Mill and Shalimar Flour Mill. The Director FCS&CA asserted that there should not be any compromise in grinding of Atta in all Mills of Jammu Division as it is primarily meant for people residing in far flung areas as well as PHH/NPHH under NFSA and for any deterioration in its quality or quantity, concerned Mills Supervisors of FCS&CA shall be held responsible.
At the same time, he assured Mill owners that their pending issues were under direct consideration of Government and shall be resolved at the earliest.
The Director also suggested reviving old foolproof practice of sealing PDS supplies in Private Mills with three signatures (Supervisor, Mill Rep and AD) so that no pilferage or tempering can happen with public Ration supplies lying in the Mills.
Finally, Director FCS&CA Amit Sharma and his team took a round of Food Stores of the department and issued instructions for hygienic and proper upkeep of Atta, Rice, Sugar and Wheat to be supplied in different belts of Udhampur and adjoining districts.
He suggested some cross-checking mechanisms and measures to ensure proper and timely distribution of stock out of these stores. AD Udhpur was directed to visit far flung areas of district such as Moungri, Pancheri, Dudu, Latti, Basantgarh on a regular basis and ensure uninterrupted supplies to these far flung belts especially in upcoming winter months.
