Early Times Report

Kathua, Oct 16: Long pending demand of the border dwellers who come under direct line of cross border fire for constructing family bunkers along the border was redressed couple of month ago when Union government tendered and inaugurated the construction work of Bunkers in each house.
However, people have been infuriated over the suspension of work recently due to embargo on the operation of stone crusher in the vicinity and have appealed for early resumption of work.
Pertinently, Stone crushers have been asked to stop their operations for want of proper formalities. District Officer of Geology and Mining department Bodh Raj when contacted informed that the case of their operation has been taken up with the concerned authorities and the permission may be granted soon.
Gopal Dass, a beneficiary, raised the demand of providing concrete materials to contractors so that the construction work can be restarted. He said, a deputation called on DDC Kathua and raised the issue but no disposal has been done. "Government should resolve the issue on priority basis for the safety of border people as Pak may resort to firing anytime, he added.
Sohan Lal, another beneficiary, appealed the government to resolve the issue immediately as excavation in their courtyards was posing threat to the lives besides causing inconvenience in day to day life.
Ravinder Singh, supervisor, of the department also assured that the work may start soon.
Deepak Raina, a PDP leader, appealed to the Governor to ensure resumption of work at the earliest so that precious lives can be saved in case of Pak firing.
