NC backed Independent candidates win 7 seats in Kishtwar Municipality

Congress, PDP backed candidate win 2 seats each, BJP manage to win only one seat

Srinagar Oct 20: In a charger and emotional atmosphere at the counting venue of Kishtwar ITI ground, the NC backed Independent candidate manage to win 7 seats out of 13 seats in Kishtwar Municipality while BJP manage to win only one seat while Congress manage to win 2 seats and PDP backed Independent candidates manage to win 2 seats and the other seat goes to Independent.
As per the details available with Early Times, the counting in Kishtwar ITI ground begins in charge atmosphere as hundreds of the supporters of 53 candidates who contested the elections had assembled at the venue to witness the results.
As soon as the results started coming, the jubilation of the winning candidates supporters add the charm in the air.
The first result was declared that of Ward No.1 from where Maryam Begum an independent candidate backed by NC win with huge margin defeating BJP candidate along with PDP backed Independent candidate.
The most close battle among the 13 seats has been witnessed in Ward No. 2 from where Sanjeev Kotwal of Congress win the seat by the margin of one vote by defeating NC backed Independent candidate Sajjad Butt while another close contest has been witnessed on Ward. No. 7 seat from where Kulsuma Begum Malik, the mother of PDP State Youth Secretary Umar Malik win by the margin of 3 votes defeating Independent candidate Jameela Begum.
In another battle NC backed Independent candidate Mushtaq Ahmed Kichloo win by the margin of 99 votes defeating BJP candidate Surjeet Kotwal.
From Ward No. 3 lone Independent candidate Zahid Hussain manage to win the seat without support of any political party.
Another close contest has been witnessed on Ward. No. 6 from where an RTI Activist Sajjad Najjar backed by PDP manage to win by 7 votes by defeating NC backed Independent candidate Fida Arshad Dar.
Ward No. 6 of Kishtwar constituency is considered as the strong Bastian of National Conference and home seat of NC,s Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Tanveer Ahmad Kichloo.
All eyes were on this seat right from the beginning after NC and PDP filled independent candidates against each other.
The insider says that some of the Kichloo family members voted in favour of the PDP backed candidate after one of the Kichloo,s relative who want to contest the election from the ward was denied the support by the Party District President.
Similarly from Ward No. 4 Rafiqa Begum manage to win the seat
In another direct fight between the BJP candidate Advocate Vikas Sharma and NC backed Independent candidate Shahid Hussain Kripak from Ward No.8, BJP lost the seat by the margin of nearly 40 votes.
From Ward No .9 NC backed Candidate Shabir Ahmed win by 9 votes by defeating PDP backed candidate Basharat Akhoon.
The only win for BJP came from Ward. No. 10 from where Drishta Gupta manage to beat Independent candidate Vijya Gupta in one to one battle..
Among the all 13 wards, the surprising result came from Ward. 11 from where NC backed Independent Candidate Ghulam Mohammad Butt manage to win by defeating BJP candidate and PDP backed candidate. Both BJP and PDP use all its resources for winning this seat.
For Congress party who is in revival mode after securing less than 500 votes in 2014 Assembly elections, thehe party youth leader Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo manage to win the seat in a Triangular contest by defeating NC backed Candidate and former District Youth Coordinator Kishtwar Naseer Ahmed Bagban.
Lastly the most important candidate and a face of Municipality President Post, NC backed Raiz Ahmed Zarger, former Additional District Development Commisoner manage to win the seat by the margin of nearly 20 votes.
With the announcement of the results, the focus has now been shifted on oath taking ceremony as NC backed Independent candidates after a meeting later today will stake a claim for the post of the Kishtwar Municipality President before the District Election Officer Kishtwar.
