Former Minister Slathia celebrates winning of party's backed independent candidates
NC's double face exposed in ULBs elections
10/21/2018 11:14:19 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 21: It seems ridiculous that despite the decision of National Conference's high command of boycotting Urban Local Bodies Elections, former minister and senior leader of the party Surjeet Singh Slathia has reportedly celebrated the winning of independent candidates who were backed by him.
Sources told Early Times that around seven independent candidates, who won elections of Municipal Committee Vijaypur, had full support of National Conference leader and were reported to be staunch workers of the party, fought election as independent candidates.
"As soon as the results were declared around 12 PM on 20-10-2018, the seven independent winning candidates along with their supporters marched towards the residence of Slathia, where the NC leader felicitated the winners by garlanding them and put sweets in their mouth with his own hand amid drum beating," they said further adding that during celebration, minister reportedly asked the gathering to strengthen the party in coming elections.
The winning independent candidates, who visited the NC leader' residence including Madhu Sharma from Ward 1, Ravi Kumar from Ward 3, Madhan Lal Dogra from Ward 5, Deepak Kumar from Wad 6, Darshan Lal from Ward 11, Ravi Kumar from Ward 13 and Ganesh Sharma from Ward 8.
Early Times has already reported that NC had fielded its candidates from all wards in MC Vijaypur elections as independent. "The NC' claim of boycotting ULBs election proved to be farce as many leaders of party took part in elections as independent candidates in Jammu region," said sources.
Sources said the Jammu based leaders were in total state of confusion as they wanted to participate in election from party mandate openly, but diktat from their Kashmir centric bosses shattered their hopes thus compelled them to go in fray as independent candidates.
