Infiltrators told to carry heavy arms and ammunition to Kashmir
11/15/2018 9:47:49 PM
Since infiltration bids continue from across the LoC and the IB the Army have been told to upgrade antiingress bids and in this connection the soldiers who are deployed on the LoC have been equipped with anti-mine boots so that the enemy could kill the Indian soldiers by laying some mines. And this is the plan of Pakistan to create an entry point on the LoC and after pushing these militants into the Kashmir and Jammu sectors they have been asked to raise the level of violence. The Army has procured special anti-mine boots for troops deployed along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir with twin aims of facilitating domination of the landmine-infested forward areas and hot pursuit of terrorists if necessary to thwart the infiltration bids. As part of the counter-infiltration grid, the soldiers have to get into forward areas for domination and sometimes even undertake hot pursuit of the militants and subversive elements.
The troops have purchased equipment such as anti-mine boots and deep search metal detectors out of the special funds to facilitate these operations and at the same time ensure the safety of the Indian soldiers.
The forward areas along the LoC under XVI Corps -- a length of nearly 250 kilometres of rugged terrain and dense bushes -- have inherent landmine dangers but all preparations, including safety precautions, have been taken for carrying out the operations. Some of the mines, laid as part of the counter-infiltration measures, drift from their original place due to rain and snowfall. Sometimes accidents happen. Even before the installation of counter infiltration apparatus the troops have foiled an infiltration bid in Keran sector of north Kashmir by killing two militants and also shot dead an armed intruder in Akhnoor sector.
An infiltration bid was foiled by troops in Keran sector of Kupwara district in which two militants were killed in the operation, which was going on till last reports came in. The identity and group affiliation of the deceased militants was not immediately known. A heavily-armed intruder was shot dead along the border in Akhnoor sector Recoveries made from the deceased militants included two assault rifles along with two magazines and 234 rounds of bullets, five pistols with 10 magazines and 60 rounds, 15 hand grenades and 12 fuses for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) This indicates that militants operating in the Kashmir valley have started feeling the pinch of shortage of weapons and grenades. The latest ingress bid, that was foiled, was part of the plan to equip militants with grenades and assault rifles and pistols which may be used to kill innocent people and the security forces.
